Can't remember which comedian said this but I know it made me laugh. Unfortunately, I don't have a special stick for this purpose so I had to use a chopstick!
The kitchen cupboards have been started and I'm progressing slowly. I'd already started painting when I realised I hadn't taken any 'before' pics (still getting into the swing of this 'before and after' lark). Here's what most of the kitchen still looks like:
I like the cream and I'm still a bit worried that the blue is going to overpower the room:
My husband liked the colour. Daughter likes the colour 'but in a bathroom, not a kitchen' and son says 'it looks like a country kitchen - but not in a good way'!
My husband liked the colour. Daughter likes the colour 'but in a bathroom, not a kitchen' and son says 'it looks like a country kitchen - but not in a good way'!
However, as I was painting the first coat, the original cream colour was peeping through the blue and I decided I liked the effect. It lost that anonymous blue paint look and became interesting. So, armed with a fine sandpaper, I might start experimenting tomorrow. I'll let you know what happens.
Blessings,
Andi xx
Trust me. You will LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteAhhh, there it is, that lovely new colour. I like it a lot. And if you are going to distress it, even better. If you don't want to do it yourself, borrow my dogs, they are great at distressing all sorts.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the results of your hard work. It already looks great! xx
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you are going to LOVE it when it's finished..anything new takes time to get used to doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteI'm keeping tabs on your progress as I'm going to do the same in a few weeks time.
Bellaboo :o)
Love the blue. I loved the bit about the paint stirring stick. For the ladies - you know when you're turning into your mum when a) You always have the correct change for the bus b) Never get caught in a shower cos you have your umbrella and c) Begin to comment that the newsreader has a nice smile! ReplyDeleteThe stick comment brought back memories of my Dad who had A COLLECTION of such sticks - no to mention paint brushes soaking in jars FOR MONTHS - thanks for that!
ReplyDeleteThe thing is though now you do have a special stick to stir paint !!! Anyway, I love your kitchen blue, and I particularly love the Aga, I really want one but have no room at all :o(
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the finished pics.

ReplyDeleteWe have a paint stick - are we sad?! S also keeps threatening to draw around the tools on the shed wall! I have told him if he ever does I will leave and take the children with me!
ReplyDeleteThe blue looks really pretty, you can always tone it down with accessories if you feel it's too much when it's finished. My paint stick is a chopstick too!
ReplyDeleteI think the kitchen is looking great already!
ReplyDeletethanks for your lovely comment about my neighbour hopefully things will improve, they already have a bit so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

I want your stove!!!! It sounds like that will be a good effect with the sandpaper. Looking forward to you sharing the final results.
ReplyDeleteI think the blue is going to be interesting, and a nice change. I think it's going to give the room some interest. Besides, you can always repaint! Looking forward to seeing the finished project!

Love the blue paint and the cute fabric in the cupboard! I guess I have become my dad since I have many paint stir sticks..LOL!

You could always paint the lower cupboards and leave the rest cream? Thats what I'd do anyway.
ReplyDeleteYou kitchen looks fab!
ReplyDeleteWe have a stick for paint! Haha! Is that sad for 27 year olds?
I LOVE the blue you have chosen...I also admire your courage. I have wanted to paint our kitchen cabinettes an ivory and cut out the centers for glass ever since moving in 5+ years ago!
ReplyDeleteI too admire your courage! I am way too chicken to paint my kitchen cabinets! can't wait to see the finished project.
