A hundred years ago women in the UK were not allowed to vote and some went through hell to get the law changed.

This week my daughter (who will be 18 in October) received a letter ordering her to register to vote or face a fine of £60.

Does the law have to take the stance of 'enemy' at every turn?

  1. This actually surprised me! If she doesn't vote will she be fined as well?

  2. Ha, that is a fine, if sad, example of how a bit of badness can always be bolted on to good things. But, like Debby, it surprises me, as I didn't know registration was compulsory here in the UK; but then it is a very long time since I was 18.
