KIWIS DON'T FLY

Picture taken from http://www.juicer-detective.com/vegetable-juicing.html

I read this post at One Shabby Old House a little while ago and it inspired me to dust down my juicer and begin using it. I've been feeling completely devoid of energy since Christmas and I thought juicing might help.

So I've been juicing every morning for a week now. My favourite so far is carrot, apple, kiwi and parsley. It's delicious and seems to be helping my energy levels. However...

This morning a piece of kiwi flew out of the juicer before I could push it down the funnel:

It ended up on my ceiling!

(quite difficult photographing something stuck to the ceiling)

A few weeks ago I was given this lovely award by Amy over at Blighty Boutique

I am to tell you seven things about myself. Seven. I'm running out of things to tell you - I'm a very boring person really. Hey, perhaps that could count as the first one?

1. I got 'unclassified' for my CSE maths exam (for those who don't know, this was the lowest level of exam you could be entered for back in the 70's). My talent in this subject really is abysmal.

2. I once tried for a job as dolphin trainer (no maths needed here!).

3. Although I admire their beauty and grace from a far, I am not fond of cats. This may stem from the time at infant school when our headmistress (an old battleaxe if ever there was one) shouted 'mind where you're walking'. In a crowd of about 100 children how was I supposed to know she was shouting at me? I stepped on the school cat's tail. I was made to apologise to the cat in front of the whole school.

4. I am a quarter Welsh and I'm inexplicably thrilled about it.

5. I love the old fashioned penny slot machines and would like to own one one day.

6. When I was small I was convinced the wind was whispering my name.

7. I believe in ghosts and that we have one in our present house. My daughter used to see 'him' when she was very little. Now she's older she no longer sees him but I occassionally get a whiff of ghostly cigar.

Thanks Amy for passing on this award. Now, as with other awards, I'm supposed to pass this on to a number of others. I am reluctant to do this as I can't pick out any in particular. Let's put it this way, I wouldn't follow your blog if I didn't enjoy reading it and in my opinion you are all deserving of the:

Blessings,

Andi xx

If you want a real energy boost try beetroot, but I'm warning you it is pretty pokey!
My favourite at the moment is apple ginger and cucumber
have fun cleaning the ceiling- perhaps thats why they had to paint the Cistine Chapel :))

  4. Wonderful post! I am sorry but I had to laugh at the kiwi on the ceiling it reminded me of me making something. I so need something for energy myself.
Loved reading your seven things and congrats on receiving this also.
I think some times this ole farm house I live in is haunted but have never seen anything just felt it mostly at night.
I too felt the same way about cats until I moved out here and was given my Tinkerbell to me from a friend who insisted if you live in the country you have to have a cat.
Turns out I love her so much and wonder why I was ever afraid of them. lol
    Love

  8. Hi Andi!
Maybe I need to try juicing too because my energy done left the house! *winks* I have a feeling that actually DOING something might help too lol!
To answer your question, yes I did lift that concrete bench by myself...what was I thinkin'! Actually I was more than a little scared that my table might not be strong enough but not worried about my back *winks*
Do you really have a ghost? How lucky are you!! I have always wanted to have a house with a friendly ghost. After all it must be a pretty special house if one never wants to leave it. Congratulations on being stylish! Vanna

  12. hi Andi!
    Congratulations on your award!
I love reading these lists! Adored your #6 and #7... I made "F's" in Algebra and "A's" in Geometry... go figure! Actually I figured it out later in life- one is based on logic (geometry) and the other theory (algebra). I could never just 'trust the theory' as they would tell you. I always wanted to know "why" it worked..... story of my life!!

    best,
    joan

  14. Your post has reminded me that we too have a juicer which really should be juicing more often!

  15. Ah, there's my reason to stay unhealthy and NOT own a juicer . "Well, dear, you would only have to decorate more often!". Poor you re having to apologise to the school cat.

  20. Thanks for your visit, mom likes making soups and mixing them up so I think it must taste the same!!
Now if the kiwi had dropped on the floor I would have eaten it.!! I think kiwi's are OK for dogs to eat.
I'm so excited for you, getting a puppy, please please can we see some photos ;)
Remember if the fruit goes flying make sure he/she doesn't pick it up!

  22. How fascinating to live with a ghost. We have a show here called ghost hunters and I am addicted to it. It's my favorite on tv right now.
